Strummers & Drummers

STRUMDRUM1.jpeg

Strummers & Drummers is an fun and accessible music program for kids and adults.  Offered by teachers of The Mill House School of Music, the program is available for Camps, Daycares, Retirement Homes, Schools and Special Events.

Using ukuleles and hand drums, groups learn to perform and sing popular songs from all eras.  Participants do not require prior musical knowledge to enjoy the program.

How Does It Work?
The Strum & Drum team uses simplified versions of well known classic and current pop and rock songs.  We use a special method to teach basic ukulele chords to play them with the songs.  For the drummers we teach basic rhythm patterns to mimic the drum set rhythms in the song. When we put the two parts together with our students singing, the songs are recreated and everyone is performing music!

What Songs Will Students Learn?
Here is a small selection of songs taught to students over the last few years:
Yellow Submarine, The Beatles
Cheerleader, OMI
Can't Stop The Feeling, Justin Timberlake
Stand By Me, Ben E. King
Three Little Birds, Bob Marley
California Gurls, Katy Perry
