Liz's Biography

Elizabeth is a recent York University Graduate with a bachelor of fine arts in music and a minor in French studies. Ever since she was young she has wanted to teach, and thoroughly enjoys sharing the music knowledge she has gained over the years.

Coming from a musical family, her formal music training started at age nine when she joined the church choir and her parents got her a flute for Christmas which she took to with ease. Surpassing expectations on flute, her teacher urged her to switch to oboe which she finds herself doing far more often now.

She went to Wexford collegiate school for the arts in high school and completed their Music Theatre program in 2017, improving her performance abilities and getting her ready to handle harsh criticisms in the real performance world. In the near future she wants to do her masters in musicology followed by a doctorate in conducting to be perfectly equipped for teaching in universities and leading choirs and instrumental ensembles. Some of her music accomplishments aside from her degree include, singing with York university’s chamber choir and the Ottawa Bach choir at Carnegie hall in 2019. She has also arranged media music for York’s Media Music Concert Band her greatest ones include a Scooby-Doo Medley and a Mary Poppins Medley, and she has performed with them as well, singing solo pieces, and playing both flute and oboe.

She is also a member of the Toronto 32nd Signals drum and bugle corps playing mellophone (a trumpet-like French horn) and is taking over as their brass instructor in the coming months.
